Abstract

Among all the known schemes and diesel engine layouts to ensure the densest of tank engine-transmission compartment layout, diesel 5TDF type, in its main parameters is at the level achieved in world practice. It still has sufficient reserves to reduce the size, increase in power, technological and constructive simplification, which have not yet been practically used. The article analyzes of the working process control parameters of the open tank diesel engines in order to find new design solutions when using in the latest models two-cycled dual motor shaft diesels of special and general use. It is shown that the open engine in the conditions of low ambient temperatures has unsatisfactory starting characteristics due to the features of the working cycle. Complicated is its launch without the use of additional means, even at a positive temperature of the air, and installed on the engine systems dosed oil spray and autonomous flare heating are not always effective, draws additional costs of PMM, especially engine oil. The problem of cleaning the air that feeds the engine is not completely solved. Kharkiv machines equipped with two-cycled diesel engines, conventional non-cassette inertial air cyclone air purifiers are traditionally used to provide minimum resistance in the intake tract. The authors substantiated the expediency of finding new design solutions that would ensure reliable operation of the air purification system for this type of engine, including the installation of additional cassettes. However, with a supercompact layout of the engine-transmission unit, this is a very difficult task that will need to be solved.
