Abstract

Reliable operation of wheeled vehicles brake systems has an impact on their stability, which manifested a lack of propensity to skidding when braking and the ability to stay in the shortest possible time. The improved method for assessing the reliability of the articulated wheeled vehicle brake system using the method of partial acceleration is offered. The scheme of the forces acting on the articulated wheeled vehicle when braking with the unlocked wheels, provided the possibility of folding its sections, is reviewed. The criterion in the form of angular acceleration in the plane of the road ωz  , on the magnitude and sign of which can be seen on the refusal of brake mechanisms, is received. When braking with operable brakes ωz ≤ 0 (stabilizing partial angular acceleration exceeds the disturbing partial angular acceleration) wheeled vehicle will have a margin of stability. Upon reaching 0 ωz > the vehicle becomes unstable, which may indicate of the braking system malfunction. The criterion takes into account the current level of wheeled vehicles, allowing to create a braking control in which the brake force distribution between the axles is in accordance with the distribution of the normal reaction of the road. The results can be used in the design, manufacture and operation of articulated wheeled vehicles.
