Development of Social Intellect as a Component of Psychological and Pedagogical Training of Specialists in the Study of Life Safety in Military Academic Institutions
Abstract
Professional activity of military personnel involves not only prevention of danger, responsibility for lives of people, it also requires the optimum level of a neuropsychological state, adequacy and success in social interaction. In military academic institutions life safety is not a specialized discipline, therefore, in psychological and pedagogical communication the officer-commander has to study rapidly individual psychological characteristics of every serviceman. The article investigates the dependence between the level of social intellect of an individual and his psychological preparation for safe behavior in stress or post-stress situations. It also determines basic methodical receptions to be used in psychological and pedagogical training of future officers. Social intellect is a component of psychological readiness to activities in extreme situations, its high level helps to overcome them. Correlation analysis of indicators of the skills level, obtained in psychological and pedagogical training, and indicators of the social intellect has led to the following conclusion: social intellect is an important component in the training of future officers, it helps to improve the reliability and efficiency of their professional activities, preserve life and health of subordinates. Quality learning of psychological and pedagogical skills only through the improvement of social intellect in military academic institutions, as well as in any other institution of closed type, has its own specificity. It is proposed to consider a set of measures aimed at the development of cadets’ general educational skills as a methodological tool. It is shown that the development of general educational skills is in a positive correlation with the level of social intellect. The development of general educational skills contributes to the weakening of the correlation bond between the social intellect and the level of psychological and pedagogical training.
